Shooting folders allow shooting managers to secure and automate the naming of their shots.

Introduction

Capture folders are a tool for capture managers who want to ensure and automate the naming of their shots. Once downloaded from Grand Shooting, these folders can be integrated into your capture software (Capture One, for example) to create automatic naming rules and ensure a consistent organization of your files.

Downloading Capture Folders

Before you can generate capture folders, you must add references to shoot in your production (see the dedicated article).

You can download the capture folders from two locations:

  • The left column of the Live of your production
  • The References to shoot section in the production settings

Click on Download the folders. The folders automatically download in ZIP format.

Customizing Naming (optional)

For more precise organization, you can customize the information included in your capture folders.

Naming Configuration

  • Go to the settings of the production > References to shoot
  • Access the Folder Naming part by clicking on Edit
  • Use variables to automatically retrieve information from your catalog
  • Variables are written between braces: {variable_name}

Examples of Common Variables

  • {collection} : retrieves the collection of the reference
  • {ref} : retrieves the reference number
  • {collection}-{ref} : combines collection and reference with a separator

Example : {collection}-{ref}Result : AW25-REF123

To increase efficiency, consider configuring the naming rules directly in the production templates. They will thus be applied from the creation of the productions. You can adapt them according to your different types of production.

Using capture folders saves you precious time and eliminates manual naming errors, while maintaining perfect consistency between your shooting and your catalog. Depending on your habits and processes, you can integrate them into your capture software or use them to directly drag and drop the files into it.
