Shooting Methods are a cornerstone of Grand Shooting. They allow you to organize your production flows based on your specific needs: type of team, type of view, distribution channel, etc.

By default, three Shooting Methods are created when you open your account: Ecom, Wholesale, and Social Media. You can customize them, add new ones, or even keep only one according to your organization.

What is the purpose of Shooting Methods?

Shooting Methods structure your entire production process:

  • Identify your workflows: differentiate your productions based on their destination (e-commerce, social networks, wholesale) or their nature (packshot, worn, ambiance)
  • Manage your specifications: define the number of views expected for each Shooting Method
  • Track your productions: filter and analyze your media by method in the catalog and reporting
  • Organize your teams: assign specific methods to different production teams

Each production is associated with a Shooting Method from its creation. Once the Shooting Methods are in place, it is not possible to mix file types within a production: you will lose all tracking.

When to configure your Shooting Methods?

You can modify your Shooting Methods at any time. However, we recommend defining them at the beginning of setting up your process, before creating your specifications.

This will allow you to:

  • Precisely frame your production needs
  • Define the right expectations for each type of workflow
  • Facilitate tracking and management from your first productions

Accessing Shooting Methods

The application settings are accessible to account administrators.

  • From the homepage, click on the Settings icon at the top right

Adding a Shooting Method

  1. On the Shooting Methods page, click on Add a Shooting Method
  2. Give a name to your new method (e.g., "Packshot", "Ambiance", "Lookbook", etc.)
  3. Validate

Your new method appears in the list and will be available for your next productions as well as in your specifications.

Modifying or deleting a method

For each Shooting Method, you have two actions:

  • Modify: change the name of the method
  • Delete: permanently remove the method (be careful, this action is irreversible)

In case of a name change of the Shooting Method, productions already created will be updated with the new method name. The same applies to product categories in the specifications.

If a Shooting Method used in an already created production is deleted, then that production remains on the old Shooting Method. You can assign a new Shooting Method from the production settings. You will no longer be able to create new productions with that method.

Link with the specifications

Shooting Methods are directly linked to your specifications. For each product category, you can indicate which Shooting Methods to use and how many views are expected.

Example:

  • Category "Bags" → Method "Packshot" → 5 views expected
  • Category "Bags" → Method "Worn" → 3 views expected

On the Shooting Methods screen, you find the product categories associated with each Shooting Method.

Filtering by Shooting Method

Once your productions are created, you can filter your media by Shooting Method:

  • On the homepage: use the available filter to display only the productions of a specific method
  • In the catalog: find all your media classified by method
  • In the reporting: analyze your performance by Shooting Method
