Just like Live and Approval, Exports are a mandatory step for all Productions.

Before making media available for Approval, they are checked against the Specifications.

Exports can also apply transformations to media uploaded in Live (or uploaded in Post-production when applicable) before submitting them for Approval. Here are some examples of possible transformations:

  • Automatic renaming of files
  • Conversion of the media format (e.g., PNG ⇒ JPG)
  • Application of a background color
  • Resampling to reduce file size
  • Application of an ICC profile

Depending on how Exports are configured, GS will display alerts in case of inconsistencies:

  • Duplicate filenames in the exported files
  • Reference missing from the catalog (potential naming error)
  • Format not respected

Exports can be configured to trigger automatically: all media uploaded (in Live or in Post-production if available) are automatically exported and thus become visible in Approval.

Exports can also be configured to be triggered manually. This is useful when a control step is desired in Post-production before making the media visible in Approval.
