A Production can have 2 statuses:

  1. active: files are uploaded at the various stages of the workflow
  2. archived: files are stored in a backup space, and the production no longer appears in the list of active productions

Archiving is the operation that changes a production’s status to archived. This operation locks the files so they are no longer accessible from GS productions, although they remain available via the API. Validated files are still available for download in the Media Library.

By default, an active production is automatically archived once there is no activity for 3 months. This 3‑month period can be adjusted upon simple request to GS Support. An activity is defined as a status change or file upload.

If needed, for example to correct a media file in an archived production, it is possible to unarchive a production up to 12 months after its creation date. In that case, the production reverts to active status with all files available at every stage of the workflow.

Depending on your license, your account can host a maximum number of active productions simultaneously. Once that limit is reached, it is not possible to create a new production unless you archive additional active productions.
