Opérateur digital - Démarrer en 5 minutes (English)

Are you in charge of the capture on a session to be synchronized on Grand Shooting, and you only have 5 minutes? You've come to the right place!

How does it work?

Grand Shooting works with all imaging software (Capture One, Lightroom, etc.). All you have to do is install the Grand Shooting sync client on the same computer. It’s a small software program that works much like Dropbox, except that the photos never leave the Grand Shooting infrastructure, to ensure confidentiality.

In the example below, the digital assistant created a RAW folder for all of the raw photos saved by Capture One. He/she also created a second folder, OUTPUT, which contained two sub-folders:

  • EIP for the raw files to be retouched, and
  • JPEG for developed EIPs to be uploaded to the platform.

In this example he/she decided to develop the photos in the OUTPUT folder, and to sync the JPEG subfolder with Grand Shooting in order to display the pictures in real time on the web application.

He could have sync the whole OUTPUT folder. The EIP would have been uploaded too. It works very well if your internet connexion is good enough.

Install and setup

First download the data synchronization client:

Install and launch the client. The fisrt page will ask you to add a user. You will be redirected to a web page to log in. If you don't remember the password you set at the time you created your account on Grand Shooting, you can go to https://app.grand-shooting.com/login and click on the link "Password forgotten ?".

Once you’ve logged in, the client pulls up the shoots:

You can download the brief to have instructions and the capture files to ensure the naming of the files (when it was set during the creation of the production).

Select a shoot by clicking on Live, then click on "Synchronize"

Finally choose the folder to sync, i.e. the folder where you will be saving the files you want to upload to the platform.

All done! The folder will sync automatically. Any image saved to the folder or one of its sub-folders will be uploaded to the server and appear on the “Live” page automatically. Click on the blue link to access to the web platform.

Now you can go ahead with the shoot. You can use your favorite photo processor (Capture One, Lightroom, etc.). Any file in JPEG, PNG, GIF, TIFF or PSD format will be rendered on Grand Shooting's web application.

At the end of the shooting, we recommend you to stop synchronization. This way, all the files will be secured, no deletion or modification will be possible on the web platform.

Tips:

  • You can work on several different shoots at once by configuring several folders to sync.
  • To have a nice experience on Grand Shooting, we recommend as minimal resolution 2,000 pixels for the longest side of the image. You can set a 80% compression ratio.
