Annotations are pieces of information directly embedded on media. Generally, this information is intended for post-production:

• for retouchers to perform image retouching
• for editors to handle video post-production
• for 3D designers working on 3D files

Annotations differ from comments in that they are only visible on the media: to extract annotations from an image, a PDF export must be generated.

In contrast, comments can be exported from the GS reporting.
