The production settings screen is divided into 6 menus accessible from the left-hand column:
- start and end dates (by default, the day the production was created)
- a location
- warnings and workflow
- a list of products
- additional information
- general brief
The most important menu is "warnings and workflow", all the others are optional.
To get us started, we're going to detail the most important part: the workflow. And to begin with, we advise you not to activate alerts and to leave the default options.
Don't panic 😅, you can return later to this settings screen at any time:
- From the Grand Shooting app home page, click on the "Show +" link to list all active productions
- Check for your production, then click on the 3 dots, then "Production settings".
Live, Phase 1, Phase 2, Export ? These are the default names of workflow steps. Of course, you can rename them if you wish. Remember that a workflow step corresponds to a workspace for a team. If you have a single team in charge of all production steps, then it's likely that only the Live is required. If, for example, one team is in charge of capture, and another is in charge of retouching, then we advise you to activate both Live and Phase 1 in production.
You can activate a maximum of 2 phases in addition to the Live phase in a production. The export stage is a special technical phase used to deliver media for final validation.
Set the rights for the person who will load the media into Live: in the Live section of the workflow settings, enter an email address and a name, then click on the "+" button to the right of the name.
The user will then receive an e-mail asking him/her to log on to Grand Shooting.
In this example, the user Pedro receives an email in French. This email would have been in English if English had been his default language.
You can also add guests: without needing to create an account, they'll be able to access Live and interact with the team loading the media. Note that by default all users registered on your GS account have access to the productions you create.
To get started, we don't need any additional workflow steps: media uploaded to Live will be proposed directly for validation. To do this, deactivate Phase 1.
Finally, activate automatic export:
In this example, the account is set up to propose several exports. If you've just created your GS account, by default you'll only be able to use the original export, i.e. the uploaded files will be submitted for approval without any transformation (no renaming, no resizing, etc.).
☝️ Good to know:
- You can change the workflow and modify the parameters as many times as you like, as long as no images have been loaded.
- You can delete the production and re-create it as many times as you like - it doesn't matter as long as no image has been loaded.
- Once images have been loaded into Live or another production step, we advise you not to modify the workflow any further: don't add or remove steps in the workflow. However, you can always change access rights and add new guests.
And that's it! Now you can start loading images into Live.
